Hoy en día, vender un disco, cd, cassette o cualquier soporte físico de música es una tarea complicada. Esto, no significa que los diseños de portadas de discos actuales sean mejores para vender más unidades y compensar la pérdida de relevancia de los formatos físicos.
La importancia del diseño de las portadas es enorme desde hace décadas, incluso, hay agencias y diseñadores que se han especializado en este tipo de trabajos como por ejemplo Hipgnosis (por las portadas de discos Pink Floyd).
